Celiac disease symptoms include stomach ache, weight loss, diarrhea, fatty stools, skin rash, bone problems and fatigue. These are so non-specific that they are often mistaken for other intestinal conditions such as Leaky Gut Syndrome and gluten intolerance.
Because of the allergic reaction elicited to gluten protein in wheat, rye and barley, these patients have malabsorption of nutrients as well as other systemic symptoms. Nutritional deficiencies are frequently seen if the condition is not detected at a younger age and treatment initiated.
